I find myself frequently reflecting on the effectiveness of therapy and of my profession. What excites me is how much one healthier, more mindful, individual can affect so many people through the interactions that they have with others and with their environment. My business model is basically giving my undivided attention to one individual or one family at a time, thus contributing to the start of hundreds to thousands of positive ripple effects over time.
I always maintain a small caseload of clients who I work with at no cost or lower cost. These accessible spots are for single mothers and/or people who have been historically, persistently or systemically marginalized.
I volunteer in the community in a variety of ways, the most significant one being as an active Board Member of Ozanam House, a local home for men in recovery from addiction.
Personally, I have ongoing practices to care for myself and our earth, such as daily exercise, cycling to work, meditation and prayer, eating whole local foods, and being a mindful consumer.
